What is a Paternity Case?

According to Florida law, if a couple is not married when the child is born, the parents must establish the child's paternity pursuant to Florida law. If neither situation applies, then the father must personally establish paternity in order to obtain a Court order granting him timesharing with the child and decision-making rights. A mother must establish paternity in order to obtain a Court order requiring the father to pay child support as well.

Setting a Parenting Plan

There are many logistics and details to consider when crafting a Parenting Plan, which will set forth the timesharing both parents have, the parents' decision-making responsibility, and items unique to each family.

We can assist you with creating practical and flexible Parenting Plans that protect your rights and deal with the following elements:

01.
Timesharing

including holiday timesharing with the child

02.
Parental responsibility

detailing each parent’s authority to make decisions affecting the child’s welfare

03.
Child support

04.
Transportation and travel issues

05.

Out-of-pocket costs for the child

including medical/dental/vision costs and extra-curricular activities
